A Manifesto for Love

We come home to our beautiful selves.

We know deep, deep within ourselves that our power is here with ourselves in this very moment. We recognize that we are the ones that know what’s best for us. We pay attention to our amazing, wise selves. We show up with love and tenderness and openness. We remember our divinity, our innate goodness, our truth.

We tend to ourselves.

We pause and notice what’s here. We meditate and practice being aware of what’s going on, without judgment. We break the habit of self-criticism and create new neural pathways. We lean into the mystery and the magic that’s here at any moment. We ground in our own power.

We honor how far we have come.

We become intimate with our own journey. We accept where we are right now in this moment and honor all of what’s come before — with compassion, wisdom, and gratitude.

We live from the inside out.

We think for ourselves. We know what truth feels like in our bodies. We remember our freedom. We connect with our inner peace, calm, and love. We know that the only way to truly show up for others and impact the world is to show up for ourselves first.

We create beautiful relationships with ourselves.

We have our own backs. We allow ourselves to fail and start again. We trust ourselves deeply. We are gentle with ourselves.

We heal.

We feel what’s here. We allow our trauma, our programming, our conditioning to make its way through. We show up for ourselves as loving partners.

We open our hearts.

We allow others to be just as they are. We love deeply and we love ourselves even more when we can’t love. We create strong boundaries as an act of love to ourselves and others.

We remember our divinity.

We remember our powerful connection with divine spirit. We harness this power and strength to co-create beautiful lives.

What does it mean to be a spiritual warrior?

To me it means showing up for myself no matter what. Being a fierce advocate and protector of myself. Being with what’s here. Recognizing myself as a free person.

Our personal power is our life force energy. It’s our own authority. Our strength.

I once heard a teacher describe it as “our ability to hold onto ourselves” and that really resonated with me. Hold onto Self.

As a culture, we’re conditioned to look to the outside. We give our amazing life force energy away. We allow a constant flow of energy, information, influence to flow in, rather than turning inside and checking to see what’s here:

What’s present in our experience?

How do we feel?

What are we thinking?

What do we want?

We don’t trust ourselves. We’re programmed to believe other people know what’s best for us. Elders, partners, teachers, employers, governments. It’s really the ultimate codependency.

It’s an old, old pattern. And the truth is it can feel like the easy way to go. If we keep our focus on the outside world, we don’t have to do the uncomfortable work of being with what’s here on the inside.

If we don’t ever tend to the relationship with ourselves. We’ll always be leaning forward, looking for the next thing to fill that hole inside. It’s an endless cycle.

But what if we came back to that powerful warrior self and gently asked…

What is here?

Can I be with it?
